Eternity, Yoga and the Word

Tomorrow, Wednesday is an exciting one for Open Door. Our weekly meditation will be augmented by a Yoga Practice, what we are calling Yoga Church. You will find details listed below. Open Door welcomes Rev. Gayle Madison as a teacher as she brings Yoga to us as spiritual pracitce.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. John 1

As a koan, the request is: Right now, show me this Word. In his prologue to hs gospel John reaches way back to beginningless time. A Chan Buddhist in 8th Century China, might know just what to do. She would recognize "Original Face" or, perhaps, "the oak tree in the garden." The gospel writer John is expressing something primary here. Clearly, in speaking of things from before beginningless time John is pointing to the seamlessness of things, life undivided -- before there is any before, and no after. In the beginning was the Word. Show that! On Wednesday, at 5 Gayle Madison will take up the Word. Our bodies will move as bodies have for centuries, finding this posture and then that. In the movements and postures of Yoga Church before thinking, we embody The Word. Show me the Word? How about downward dog? After Yoga Church we will enjoy soup and bread, breaking for Open Door Meditation. The koan? you guessed it: "In the beginning was the Word...." Together we will taste the eternal, before before with no after. See you tonight, Wednesday, 5 pm. If you want to come for meditation only please arrive no later than 6:40
