The Word

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4 in him was life,[a] and the life was the light of all people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. John 1: 1-5

"In the beginning was the Word..." If we take this scripture as a koan, we leave the land of theology, the realm of belief. This koan is about your life, your "before, before." To sit with this koan is to sit in deep inquiry as to your true nature and how you might fit into the pattern of things. To deeply explore your life is to understand that whatever the shape of things, whether things are good or bad, up or down, filled with joy or sorrow, whatever the state of your mind or body or soul, the Word is present, right here. The Word profoundly challenges your self-image, opening to life as it is. It is right here in your present experience that life seems to come into being, Without the Word not one thing has come into being. We begin to see the Word as it finds voice in our lives, as it is present in the midst of all. What was dark comes into the bright light of day. The Word has found flesh. Please join me this Wednesday, as we dive into 'the Word." Perhaps you remember this from Rubber Soul: The Word Best,
