Open Door Programs:
Taking the form of Quan Yin, give shelter to the homeless person
There is a solitary brightness without fixed shape or form.
It knows how to express the teachings and listen to the teachings.
That solitary brightness is you, right here before my eyes.
There are continuing opportunities
to practice with Open Door.
Open Door Meditation
The Open Door Meditation Group meets on Thursdays at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, KY at 6:30 pm. We sit with a koan for about a half an hour followed by a time of conversation. . This is an inclusive group.
Open Door Retreats
Open Door offers meditation retreats on a regular basis. These are times to meditate and work with koans. Practice conversations are available in small groups and one on one with the David. For Information on our upcoming Spring 3 day retreat:
Small Group Koan Study as developed by the Pacific Zen Institute is practiced at Open Door. After meditating with a koan, the group will spend time in conversation as the participants are aware of the koan in their own lives. This conversation is intimate and can transform your life. At Open Door we use the traditional Ch’an koans and koans derived from the Christian scriptures.
1-on-1 Spiritual Conversation
Working with someone one-on-one is a way of deepening your spiritual practice and opening to transformation. David Parks-Ramage is a trained spiritual director and Zen teacher. He is comfortable working with people as either. If you would like to explore your practice, talk with David to set up an appointment. If you would like to work with David in an ongoing way we ask that a donation be made to Open Door.
